Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about automatic driving lessons in Middlesbrough.

  • If you pass your driving test in an automatic car, your licence will only allow you to drive automatic vehicles. Many learners choose automatic because it's simpler—no clutch or gear changes—so you can focus on the road, mirrors, and building confidence. If you later want to drive manual cars, you'd need to take another test.
  • Automatic lessons are ideal if you find manual gears stressful, want to get on the road faster, or plan to drive an automatic car anyway. Electric and hybrid cars are often automatic, so learning in an automatic prepares you well for modern vehicles. Many learners find they progress quicker and feel more confident.

  • You'll need your provisional driving licence (both the photocard and paper counterpart if you have one). Wear comfortable shoes—no flip-flops or heavy boots. That's it! I'll guide you through everything else on the day.
  • Absolutely! Most learners feel nervous at first. I'm used to working with nervous drivers and will go at your pace. We'll start with the basics and build up gradually. Many of my past learners have told me they felt at ease within the first lesson.
